What are Street Rounds?

Street rounds are Miami Street Medicine’s direct outreach visits into the community.

Instead of waiting for people to find their way to a clinic, our multidisciplinary street teams go directly to people experiencing homelessness, poverty, unstable housing, and barriers to medical care across Miami-Dade County.

During street rounds, our team provides free medical support, essential supplies, counseling, follow-up care, and connection to longer-term resources.

Street medicine is built on trust. Our goal is not only to treat immediate needs, but to build relationships that help people reconnect with healthcare, safety, and stability over time.

From Street Outreach to Long-Term Support

A single visit can help, but ongoing care can change the direction of someone’s life.

Miami Street Medicine uses street runs to identify immediate needs, follow up with existing patients, and connect people to continued medical care and social support.

Before street rounds, the team reviews patient notes, care plans, and case management updates to identify priorities for that week’s outreach. Team leaders then guide providers, researchers, mental health professionals, and case workers into the community to follow up with patients directly.

Care Without Insurance, ID, or Judgment

We believe everyone deserves access to care, regardless of income, housing status, insurance status, documentation, or ability to pay.
